Grant: RTF72
Detail: RTF has co-commissioned with the North Yorkshire Moors Chamber Music Festival a new composition for horn and string quartet.
The work will be written for horn player Ben Goldscheider. Composition will take place during 2026 with a première on 13 August 2026 at St Hedda’s Church, Egton Bridge as part of the North Yorkshire Moors Chamber Music Festival. Playing with Ben will be Benjamin Baker and Alexander Ruisi (Violins), Sascha Bota (Viola) and Jamie Walton (cello)
The title is drawn from Paul Celan’s poem “Totenhemd”, and the work is inspired by and will be presented in association with an installation by artist Caroline Burraway.
The Richard Thomas Foundation previously commmissioned Charlotte Bray to write “Yellow Leaves” (2013) a song cycle for soprano and piano, and released a recording of Charlotte’s chamber music in 2019.
