“NEST” the New Movement Collective

Purpose of grant: To support the creation of a new piece of choreography (Nest) and public performances at the Welsh Chapel, Shaftesbury Avenue, London W1.  There were a number of performances from 15th to 24th July 2013.

Background: The New Movement Collective is a collective of new generation choreographers with a long collaborative working history, both as dancers and dance-makers with Europe’s leading ballet and contemporary companies. It is engaged in developing work that is directly presented in response to different and unusual theatrical settings. New movement aims to challenge the notions of traditional performance and evolve the landscape of contemporary theatre. Further information about the collective is here. 

NEST is inspired by Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey.  It’s a promenade performance combining an exciting and unusual set of collaborators. Dance, Architecture, Animation, Music and interactive light technologies created a tapestry of exploration and adventure.  Watch the video trailer here
